Xtend-Life’s unique protocol to preserve the efficacy of our Ubiquinol

Ubiquinol (the reduced form of CoQ10) was identified during the discovery of CoQ10 some decades ago, but it has not been able to be used in the manufacture of supplements because of its instability. Its instability is due to the two extra electrons that it contains and is ready to ‘donate’ to mop up free radicals as soon as it is exposed to air or oxygen.

Kaneka the original developers of CoQ10 have been able to develop a process that has improved its stability to the extent that it is now able to be used in dietary supplement products…but it is still highly sensitive to oxygen.

Although it is a powder it is really not suitable to incorporate into a tablet or capsule as it will likely get oxidized in the process. Being oil soluble it is best mixed into suitable oil and it is generally sold in that form.

Nonetheless, during the process of blending Ubiquinol into oil it can still be exposed to small amounts of air within the oil which can negatively impact on its efficacy. Because we did not want any degradation at all of the Ubiquinol during the production process we developed special equipment in which we would ‘purge’ the oil with nitrogen before adding the Ubiquinol, and continue to infuse nitrogen into our blend whilst the Ubiquinol is being mixed.

The nitrogen displaces any air or oxygen present so the risk of oxidation of the Ubiquinol is totally eliminated. As far as we are aware we are the only manufacturer in the world who has gone to these lengths to preserve the efficacy of the Ubiquinol.
