Question: from Vincent (Subject: Damage to nutrients?...)q1m

I recently purchased your Total Balance for men supplement.  I spoke to my cousin who is a doctor about your enteric coating and he does not believe that nutrients are normally destroyed by stomach acids.  If that were true then they would be destroyed in the foods we eat while being digested.  Clearly, that is not the case.  Could you please describe which nutrients in your supplement would be destroyed if allowed to be exposed to stomach acid?

Answer: from Warren

Your cousin is indeed correct with regard to most nutrients, but there are also a number of essential ingredients that are definitely damaged by stomach acids.  In addition there are some such as L-Glutathione that are not only damaged by stomach acid but can only be absorbed effectively though the intestinal tract.

As you know we have about 80 ingredients in Total Balance of which 16 are damaged by stomach acid.  I appreciate that this is less than 1/5th of the total but these ingredients are very important and are what helps make Total Balance so effective.

Here are the ingredients that are affected:

Dimethylaminoethanol Bitartrate (DMAE)
L-Glutathione (reduced)
L-Carnosine
Phosphatidyl Choline (as Lecithin)
Betaine Hydrochloride
Aloe Vera Polysaccharides
Alpha Lipoic Acid
Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP)
N-Acetyl L-Cysteine
Resveratrol
Amylase
Bromelain
Enzidase
Isolase
Lipase
Ribonucleic Acid (RNA)

Please remember that this list is just for Total Balance.  Our Neuro-Natural range contains other ingredients that are damaged by stomach acid such as SAMe.

Question: from Joe (Subject: Fluoride in Green Tea…)q2m2

I read an article on Dr Mercola’s website talking about the dangers of excessive fluorides in green teas.  I would like to get your comments about this given you use green tea extracts in your Total Balance and other products.

Answer: from Warren

It is indeed correct that many green teas are very high in fluorides and that excessive intake of it is not a good thing, although some authorities would disagree which is why they tip it in the drinking.

Nonetheless we are conscious of the need to keep fluoride intake to the minimum.  We test the green tea extracts that we use in our tablets and can confirm that the amount present is less than 0.001%.  This is negligible and less than you would ingest from normal eating of vegetables.

Fluoride is present naturally in many foods.  The thing to watch out for is high levels of fluoride that are present as a result of contaminants such as pesticides.

Question: from Mitra (Subject: Neuro-Natural Serenity…)q3m3

Before I order your serenity product, does it interact with birth control pills and how long does a person have to take the serenity supplements??

Answer: from Nicolien

There are no known interactions between our Neuro-Natural Serenity and oral contraceptives. However, it is always best to leave a gap of at least 3 hours between taking prescription medication and any supplements (except for the Omega 3).

The length of time that Serenity needs to be taken will vary from person to person and is also dependent whether or not the cause of the depression has been addressed.  In that regard it is similar to anti-depressants…it may only be necessary to take it for a short term, but on the other hand it may need to be taken for an extended period.

Sorry that I cannot be more specific.
