Question: From Cathi. (Subject: Dose rates...)q1
I have been taking Total Balance for Women now for 1 1/2 years and I like the product very much. The biggest positive change I have noticed is that my immune system is greatly improved. I used to catch the flu every year and three or four colds. Not anymore! Also, I have early onset osteoporeosis, and a recent bone scan proved that I have gained bone mass taking nothing but Total Balance!
However, I also suffer from mild-to-moderate depression (especially in winter), which the Total Balance has not seemed to help. So several months ago as an experiment, I ordered a few bottles of the Neurological Formula, but never took it consistently. However, I started taking it faithfully last week at full dose, and already my spirits are lifting and I have a greater clarity of mind. I don't feel as sluggish and lethargic, either.
My question is this: I have been taking full doses of both Total Balance for Women and Neurological Formula. Is this dangerous or hazardous in any way? I know that your website gives the recommended combination of 6 of one and 3 of the other. But I would like to take full doses of both.
Answer: From Nicolien.
I am glad to hear you are getting such good results. I'm not surprised that your bone density has improved. This often happens to people taking Total Balance because it helps balance any nutrient shortfalls in the body and thus reduces the leaching of calcium from the bones.
However, the dose you are currently taking of both TB and the NF combined is really too much, although it is not dangerous. It's just that by taking the full dose of each means that you may be getting a little more than the optimum intake of some of the ingredients. I would suggest that you either take 3 tablets of one and 6 of the other, or alternatively 4 tablets of each.
To maximize the benefits of both products allow a gap of one hour between taking the two products.
Now, here is some good news for you. We are soon to release a new generation Total Balance and another three versions of the Neurological Formula. Both of these will be even more effective than the current formulas. They have been developed so that they can both (the TB and the NF) be taken at the full dose rates without a concern of 'overdosing' on any single ingredient.
We will let you know as soon as these are available. (Hopefully within 2 months) In the meantime perhaps it may be a good idea to follow the above suggested protocol.
Oh... by the way, one of the new versions of the Neurological Formula will be specifically targeting depression.

Question: From Harry. (Subject: Joints...)q2
I am thinking of trying your Arthrit-Eze but have a couple of questions. I have a condition different from Arthritis that I am wondering about. When I was a child they called it being 'double jointed' in my arm sockets. Have you ever heard of that? It is where my arms are joined at the shoulder and I can move the arm in and out of the socket at will, and inadvertently.
As a child it was a fun 'trick' but at 42 years old it is now happening just when I pick things up and is aching. It has not ever bothered me or happened accidentally until the past few months, as I lost 50 lbs doing Atkins. I have no idea if the fat loss could be related to this (or muscle loss) or if it is calcium related or something else.
In any case I am wondering if you think your new product might help?
Answer: From Warren.
I honestly do not think that our new product will help this problem. It seems that it is more of a 'mechanical' problem. If it was due to degeneration of cartilage etc I am sure that you would have symptoms in other parts of your body.
Years ago I had problems with frequently dislocating a shoulder. The solution was to do careful weight training and build up muscle around the shoulder area. I have not had a problem since. It is possible that in the process of losing weight you have also lost muscle tone in that area which is contributing to the problem.
I think in this case that you would be better off putting your money towards a gym membership and working on your shoulders. Good luck.

Question: From Mike. (Subject: Adding Arthrit-Eze...)q3
I have a question regarding your new Arthrit-Eze and how it could be taken with your other products especially your Neurological Formula. I am currently taking your Total Balance for Men 4 capsules , your Neurological formula 4 capsules (should the Total Balance and Neurological capsules be taken at different times?) 2 -3 Omega 3 fish oils, and just add your Coral Calcium into the mix as well.
I was recently on the medication Zoloft for anxiety and no longer take this or any prescribed medication. I have a degenerative disk in my lower back which causes problems with pain etc... and probably led to the Zoloft, and currently suffer from psoriasis and have noticed some achy weak knees as of late. I work in construction and I'm constantly putting wear and tear on my body.
I guess my question is how should I take my current group of supplements to maximize their effectiveness and could I add the Arthritis formula to the mix? Any ideas? I want to give your supplements the full chance to help me. At some point I will probably have to go on a maintenance regiment. I've been extremely pleased with your products thus far and the support I have already received from your employees.
Answer: From Warren.
There is no problem with adding the new Arthrit-Eze to your current regime of Total Balance and Neurological Formula. However, to ensure that there is no ingredient interaction it is desirable that there is a gap between each of the products which are enteric coated...which these three are.
The Omega 3's and/or Super Phytonutrients/Coral Calcium, can, however, be taken at the same time as any of the tablets. There is no interference because the active ingredients of the tablets are released in the upper intestine whereas the Omega 3 and Calcium etc is released in the stomach.
If you were only taking two enteric coated tablets then a gap of one hour between each is OK. However, if you are using three enteric coated products which you would be when adding in the Arthrit-Eze then it is best to leave a gap of 2 hours between each of them.
This is what I would suggest:
As soon as you get up in the morning take 3 Arthrit-Eze tablets and your Omega 3 and the Calcium mix.
Two hours later...sometime after breakfast, take the 4 Neurological Formula.
Two hours after that, take the 4 Total Balance tablets.
Two hours after that, take another 3 Arthrit-Eze tablets.
Because the tablets are enteric coated they can be taken at any time without discomfort. However, to get the best out of the Arthrit-Eze formula don't take it immediately before or after a meal. For the TB and the NF it doesn't matter.
