Question: From John. (Subject: Am I making a mistake?)q1

I am taking Zocor at 20 mg as a preventative measure for high cholesterol. I plan on also taking Total Balance for Men and a fish oil supplement with 500 mg of DHA.

I am on Agatston's South Beach Diet and on page 94 of his book he states: "There are only rare problems with the statin drugs now on the market, despite the occasional scare that arises in the papers or on TV news shows. The benefits of statins far outweigh the potential hazards.

Among physicians, there has never been any serious doubt about the wisdom of taking them. Consider this: Most cardiologists I know over the age of 40 are taking a statin drug, even doctors with no sign or history of heart trouble. The medication isn't cheap ... but the results are worth it."

Am I making a mistake taking Zocor? Please advise! (I have already read your Special Report on this subject.)

Answer: From Warren.

I totally disagree with the assertion in the South Beach Diet book. There is absolutely no need for anyone to take a statin drug if they follow good natural protocols.

The incidence of side effects is much greater than what is reported. I don't agree with their assertion that 'most cardiologists' use a statin drug as a preventative measure. To support this statement I can tell you that we have recently been approached by a group of very prominent and published cardiologists in the USA. They are deeply concerned about the side effects of statins on many of their patients who are statin 'intolerant'.

Their concern is sufficient to prompt them to search the world for an effective natural alternative. They discovered us and feel that our product is superior to anything else on the market and as a result they wish to carry out a full double blind placebo study using our product.

This is due to commence within the next couple of months.

Quite apart from the published info re the dangers of statin drugs we constantly receive emails from people looking for alternatives because they are having muscle pain problems and in some cases liver damage which may or may not be repairable.

As a point of interest, does the book warn that you must take a CoQ10 supplement if you are taking a statin? If not, they are doing their readers a great disservice. Have a look at the articles I wrote on CoQ10 and statins and in particular have a look at an abstract for which we provide a link showing how the statins rob your body of CoQ10. It's serious stuff.

You can find these in the archives of Xtend-Your-Life.

Question: From Bob. (Subject: The Antidote that kills all deadly bacteria and viruses)

Can you give me any background on this product? Thank you.

http://www.crocinamillion.info/ash/

Answer: From Warren.

This product has been doing the 'rounds' with spammers for the last few years. There is no doubt that it is a scam. I recollect that the FDA issued a warning about this product and that it is banned from being imported into the US. The promoters of it are 'invisible' and who knows where they are located. I would stay well clear of it if I were you, because you would have no idea what is in it.

Believe me, if it was that good it would be a godsend, and the WHO would love to have it as protection for what could be a serious problem developing in SE Asia with the bird flu, which is many more times lethal than SARS.

Sadly these people are playing on the vulnerable and uninformed, and in my opinion they should be thrown in jail.

Question: From Karti. (Subject: Best source of Omega 3s?)q3

Can you let me know which fishes are being used worldwide for omega 3 oil? I had heard that SALMON fish is the best source of omega 3.

Answer: From Nicolien.

Thanks for your enquiry. Regarding which types of fish are used worldwide for Omega 3 products, this would be salmon, anchovies, mackerel, herring, hoki, etc. All cold water (fatty) fish contain Omega 3 oils. The salmon that is used is often farmed salmon, as this is much cheaper than wild salmon, and of an inferior quality because it contains antibiotics and growth hormones.

Also, many manufacturers use a mix of mackerel, anchovies and herring and call it salmon.

Our Omega 3/DHA fish oil is one of the purest in the world. You need to find one that is molecularly distilled and harvested from a quality (fish) source. Some other producers of fish oil purchase their supplies extracted from a variety of fish from worldwide sources including third world countries.

They are transported across the world in tankers and pass through the tropics. As a result the oil is very prone to rancidity and has to have many additives to try to mask the objectionable smell. In contrast, our fish is all processed fresh as is the oil. This is because they are all caught locally.

Rancidity is therefore not a problem as the source is known and all the processing steps controlled.

There are no detectable levels of contaminants in our fish oil even in the raw oil before we concentrate and molecularly distill our fish oil, so therefore certainly none in the final product. This is due to the fact that contaminant levels in fish that we use (New Zealand Hoki) are very low due to the area in which the fish is harvested. They are a local fish, not a migratory one and they live in the mid ocean levels off the south western area of New Zealand in the Southern Ocean. This is the most pristine and cleanest ocean in the world. There is no run-off from farms as the coast line on the south western area of New Zealand is all National Park and there is nothing between there and Antarctica.

As a point of interest we have just had our latest analysis back from the laboratory on the last batch. To give an example, the content of lead which is based on 'normal' world specifications calls for a level of less than 3ppm (parts per million). However, our product comes in at 0.035ppm which is unheard of in this industry.

Also, our levels of DHA which is the important part of the Omega 3 is also unmatched. So, you can use this product with absolute confidence.
