Dandelion root is used as a liver tonic, as a laxative, for gallstones, bile stimulation, breast cancer, indigestion, constipation, flatulence, as a tonic, in anti-smoking preparations, for diabetes, gout, eczema and cancer. Dandelion helps digestion because the bitter constituents in dandelion root promote bile flow. The extracts demonstrate anti-tumor activity in vitro. The root extract has anti-inflammatory activity in animals. Dandelion root promotes detoxification by the liver and is helpful in skin disorders and chronic illness.
